Music label research

The genre that i have chosen to do for my A2 music video task is the genre of house music and I have chosen three different music label institutions to research. The three music label institutions i have chosen to research are "Spinnin' Records", "Ministry of Music " and "3 Beat"

Spinnin' records

Spinnin' Records is a massive worldwide Dutch company who produce house music and artists and have big success with artists such as Martin Garrix and Laidback Luke. The company was founded in 1999 in the Netherlands by Eelko Van Kooten and Roger Da Graaf. This institution produces House, Electronic, Electro House, Big Room House and Deep House. They have supported a total of 74 artists, some who are very successful and polar such as Avicii and Sigma. 



Ministry Of Sound

The ministry of sound is a Private record company based in London in the United Kingdom. The company was founded In 1991 and the Founder/Chairman of the company is a man named James Palumbo. In 2013 the company's revenue hit $100 million and it has been very successful with a few recent artists as they have produced 2 UK number 1 records, 3 top 10 records and 2 top 20 records. 2 gold albums and 1 platinum number 1 selling album called "Playing In The Shadows" have also been achieved by the company. They have also worked with a few very successful artists like "Far East Movement", "Duke Dumont" and "Storm Queen" and since its inception the label has had 18 UK number 1 records.


3 Beat

3 beat is a small, independent record label company who were founded in 1989 by a man named Jon Barlow and the company is based in Liverpool, England in the United Kingdom. Even though they are only a small record company, they have surported very successful artists such as "Inna", "Duck Sauce" and also "Skepta" and although they are mainly a house industry company, they have also produced other genres of music types such as "Rap" and "R&B" but are not as known as the other record labels I have researched.
